Yasmeen mother of Nasyam Mohd Faiz 300x199 Coaching MomsHyderabad : Mother is the first teacher. The school Teacher comes next. The modern mothers do go beyond their role in helping their children to fulfill their kids dreams. So mothers are playing a role of a teacher, guide, mentor, philosopher. Here are some mothers who are plyaing a role of Coaches for their children..

Now in case of some sporting kids, Moms are their coaches.  Though they are not coahces in true sense by giving physical training etc. But, they do train their kids psyhcologically, they  make them confident. They  propare their kids psychologically to face the opponents in the sports area. They counsel them. They watch carefully their kids being trained by the professional coaches.  They carefully remembers all those finer points  of the coaching.  And they will later repeat at home or in the ground to make it doubly sure that their kids follow.  These moms not only just feed their kids routines, but, they do take care of their diet, nutrition requirement.

They ensure that their kids has proper sleep before their matches. They even accompany them. They sit in stands all through while their kid play and cheer them up occasionally.  Such Coaching Moms were spotted at just concluded The Three Day AITA – SportsCult Championship Series Tennis Tournament conducted by Sports Cult at Surya Academy in the city outskirts.

Coaching is a development process. This is done to acheive competenece in a given area. Coaching is done by only professionals who have competence to do so. But, coaching may also be applied in cases where one has greater experience and expertise than the other said Bobby Reddy, Founder of Sporting Cult.

Coaching is fun.  It is a learnable skill. But, this doenst mean that we replace the coaches. There is no substitute to the coaches.  We do need coaches.  Mrs. Nasyam Mohd  mother of under 12 badminton player Faiz Mohd from Mumbai said.  I am not a pushy mother. My son plays by himself. I accompany him rarely to grounds and touraments. Our driver takes him everywhere. My role begins where coach role ends said  Nasyam.

Many mothers push their kids hard.  That is not right.  Sporting has to come by themselves. If there is no talent, no amunt of pushing by parents helps.  Some parents fight for points.  This is not right.  Mothers or parents  must not be allowed to go close to the playing area of the kids. particularly during the tournaments. This practice is in vogue in some western countries.  They disturb the child. Parents presence at the court sometiems  puts their kids under pressure. Many parents dont allow their kids to play their natural game she said.

Mother is a full time duty. Necessity is mother of wisdom.  My daughter has been playing Tennis for three years.I play a role of a guide, mentor, companion, critique.  I dont add  to the her routine pressure.  Some  mothers are very pushy. They scare their children.  They hit them when they dont perform.  Child is not a medal winning machine. I am different kind of a coach to my daugher said Shruti Bhasin mother of Smriti Bhasin.

Smriti was the Champion in Singles Under 12 Girls Singles at the just concluded AITA–SportsCult Tennis Tournament.

Srilatha is a home maker.  She is a proud mother of Tanushitha Reddy, a 10 years old girl studying in Bharatiya Vidyabahan in Sainikpuri.  I am my daughters Counsellor.  Though i dont know much of Tennis Coaching,  but i do guide her not just in her Tennis, but also in her studies. As a parent we must show them proper gudiance said Srilatha. Parents must involve in all areas of the sporting career of the child.  Lot of things i observe  from coaches and coach my child, she said. Home coach is anytime better than an external coach. When i say this it doesnt mean that we dont need coaches. Coaches du require.  But, there are many kids who have  come up in a big way in sports arena, not just in Tennis, but, everywhere, on their own, she said.

Though being a BAMS Doctor, i give lot of time for my daughter Mansi Muneshwar said Dr. Rakhi.  My daughter wants to become world champion in Tennis. It is her dream. I observing Tennis players and their play on Television and experiment with my child.  This i do because we come from Nizamabad where there are no choaches at ll.  There is only one Tennis court available in Nizamabad. My daugther plays Tennis along with  Superintendent of Police Mr. Chandrashekhar Reddy at Nizamabad,. The SP makes it a point that my daugther goes and  practices with him. Some times when i am busy with my profession, my mother Janabai  Populwar accompanies Mansi to the tournaments she said.

Dr. Bhakthiar Chowdary, a well known Sports Medicine expert with over 20years experience serving Indian Army, Apollo Hospitals says we need a “Fitness Revolution”. Speed and Strength is  what is required in many sports personalities in India. But, unfortunately that is week in India. Coaches and Practice can give Speed, but, strength can come from the player himself.  Even moms have a role in giving that strength to their kids by way of good nutrition supplments.  The Ice Cream Kids of Urban cities are not fit enough to last long in sports to move upwards.

Kavyesh, a young Tennis player says that his father coaches him hard enough not to get scared by the opponent and his shots on the field. My parents are my coaches, says this young boy.

Senior Coach Upender of Sports Cult is of a diferent opinion. Though it is good that mother do coach them their wards on many aspects, but they shouldnt intefere with Coaches on the ground.  Coaching is fine, but, too  much of pushing is very bad, he said. Mothers are mothers, coaches are coahces.  Coaching needs different skill set, he said.

Mothers coaching their child a particular sports is something like first aid.  You can do it.  But, if you need a treatment,  you need an expert, you need to go to doctor, opined Bobby Reddy.

B. Nagesh, Coach at Surya Academy said  more and more are getting into Tennis now. Those who cant afford a coach, can always coach their kids.  But, a coach is an expert who teaches and supervises, which  involves giving directioins, instructions.  This type of coach gets involved in all the aspects of the sports, including physical and mental player development.

Neha Uikey a lady coach from Maharashtra said Tennis as sport can be played by any irrespective of age restrictions. The trained coach trains athletes to becom better at the physical component of the game.  While  mother can train their kids to become better at the mental component of the game.

Not just in Tennis, be it any sport we have many examples of the mother or father donning the role of coach. In Yatching.  Sailing and girls a rare combination. But, that is the thing of the past. Now more girls get into water. Many mothers not only encouraging their own daughters, but also coaching them, sailing with them in competitions.

The only difference is the coach assumes better position about the sport and has more previous experience and knowledge, said Bobby Reddy. The coach’s job is to transfer as much of this knowledge and experience  to the players.  They also train them tactics, strategies, which is very well showcased Shahrukh starrer Chakde India film said Bobby Reddy.
