Details of TYE 2013-2014 Program
Since 2007, TiE Hyderabad under its ‘Buddies’ program has been providing mentorship to school students locally by experts from various domains and industries. This year, to bring the program onto the Global platform, TiE Hyderabad has taken this up under TYE program spanning over 16 weeks designed for students from Grade 9th to 12th wherein the participating students go through an intensive and interactive Entrepreneurial Training programme. 30 students will be shortlisted for the TYE 2013-2014 program from the applications received and teams of 5-6 members of varied age, background & interest will be formed. Each team will get a dedicated mentor who will guide the team throughout the 16 weeks programme.
The program schedule for first 8 weeks will include topics like Understanding Entrepreneurship, Opportunity Recognition, Marketing, Finance and Funding, Business Law, Business Models, Presentation and Team Building Skills. The following next 8 weeks will be allotted to the students to make business prototypes. The curriculum is developed to achieve 2 objectives in the young kids, first and foremost to have basic knowledge required to develop an idea into a viable business plan and secondly have the required skills that can translate them in to a professional in day to day activities. The overall program involves mentoring, inspirational talks, hands-on class room instruction, workshops by established industry leaders to cultivate creativity, self confidence & innovation. It also includes visits to companies and business plan creation.
All TYE Hyderabad Chapter level participants will get Certificates and the jury will then pick the winners presenting the best business plan. The winning team will represent TYE-Hyderabad on a global competitive platform wherein it will present their business plan and will compete with best proposals received from all TiE Chapters across the globe. The winners at the global level will receive a cash prize of US$ 10,000.
Commenting on the occasion, Mr. Murali Bukkapatnam, President, TiE Hyderabad said, “We are thrilled to bring top quality entrepreneurial experience to kids who are open to dynamic career options and are not just bound to “traditional” path of joining another company. It’s time that we create a viable eco-system for budding entrepreneurs in the country who are the future of India to prosper and progress bringing ideas to life.”
The TYE program has been running successfully in India and across the globe over the years and a testimony to it is that last summer out of 30 students which The Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) Cambridge, US handpicked across the globe for its Student Entrepreneurial Programme “Launch”, had 3 alumni of TYE which shows the quality of the young talent groomed by TYE.
