New Delhi: Delhi Amateur Wushu Association commenced its prestigious 13th Delhi State Wushu Championship on 9th December 2014 at Talkatora Indoor Stadium. The three-days long championship was inaugurated by Shri. R K Pachnanda (IPS), ADG, CISF and the guest of honour was Mr. Zhang Zhihong, Counsellor , Culture Chinese Embassy. Dr Prabhat Kumar, IAS, President of Delhi Amateur Wushu Association honoured Asian Games Bronze Medalist, Mr. Narender Grewal. The tournament will witness around 700 Wushu players representing around 30 teams from various clubs and departments of Delhi including CRPF, ITBP, SSB, Air Force, STC Delhi and Delhi Wushu Academy .The Delhi Wushu State Championship was started in the year 2001 and gained momentum and popularity under the able guidance of Dr. Prabhat Kumar (IAS), President, Delhi Amateur Wushu Association. Congratulating the team, Shri R.K. Pachnanda said, “It is an honour for me to be a part of the 13th Delhi State Wushu Championship and I am glad to see how Delhi Wushu Association is playing a pivotal role in promoting the sport in India and he gave assurance to promoting Wushu sports in Delhi Mr. Zhang Zhihong also appreciated and encouraged the efforts of Dr Prabhat Kumar and Delhi Amateur Wushu Association and he promised that the Chinese Embassy, cultural Department will give support to Wushu as priority sport. Dr Prabhat Kumar President Delhi Amateur Wushu Association welcomed all players and Coaches for their participation and gave thank to NDMC and Delhi Government for promotion of Wushu Sports In Delhi. He said without the support of NDMC and Delhi Government we can’t reach this stage.
