In Bihar, a two member probe team consisting of Home Secretary Amir Subhani and Additional Director General of Police Gupteshwar Pandey has held District Administration responsible for the stampede in the state capital Patna on Vijayadashmi day this year. Thirty three people were killed and 29 injured. The stampede took place near the Southern Gate of the huge Gandhi Maidan soon after “Ravana Vadh” programme had got over when the gathered people were exiting after the ceremony.
While talking to reporters State Home Secretary Amir Subhani cited various aspects like insufficient lighting at the venue, lapses in crowd management , rumor about snapping of electric wire and inadequate exit points the causes for the stampede. He said District Administration, Police Administration , Patna Municipal Cooperation and the Traffic Arrangements were also responsible for this tragedy. Subhani said Administrative and Disciplinary actions would be taken against those officials who were found responsible for this tragedy
