The Terry Fox Run is an annual non-competitive charity event held in numerous regions around the world in commemoration of Canadian cancer activist Terry Fox, and his Marathon of Hope to raise money for cancer research. The 25-year-old cancer survivor, Nitin Tolani, a Dubai-based man of Bangalore ancestry who returned to Bangalore for his treatment, has been instrumental in bringing the event back to the city.

Back in 1980, no one in Canada thought it possible that a young man with a prosthetic leg could run a marathon a day, every day….but Terry did. This Canadian dare devil was audacious enough to take on one of the most diabolical enemies known to mankind, Cancer. What Terry Fox achieved struck a chord with Canadians. His efforts inspired millions, and the Terry Fox Run took off and has not looked back. 34 years and nearly 2/3 of a billion Canadian dollars later, the Terry Fox spirit is alive and well in communities all over the World.

It is great to see participants from lot more schools this year. I would like to thank everyone at CIS for organizing this event so well, said Nitin Tolani, cancer survivor.

It is a great initiative by Canadian International School to conduct this awareness amongst people to overcome there hurdles and obstacles in their life . Terry Fox will be remembered forever, said Mr. Niranjan Mukundan, chief guest of the event.

Great run for a great cause. We had another terrific run today. I feel very privileged & fortunate to be a part of such an initiative, said Shane Kells, Head of School, Canadian International School, Bangalore

It is a day of celebrating Terry’s legacy and helping to keep alive his dream of finding a cure for cancer, said one of the student.

Wonderful experience to be with our adopted Canadian family at the Terry Fox Run and it was well organized, said Iris Lui, Consulate General of Canada, Bangalore.
