Eleven people were killed and 30 others were injured when a mini truck carrying around 50 members of a ‘tribal opera group’ rammed into a tree on Chandahandi Ghat in Nabarangpur district in Odisha, police said on Saturday.
Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) Umerkote Gopinath Manipatro said all the people belonged to Dabugam area.
They were going to Chandahandi for a performance on the occasion of the Dussehra festival when their mini truck dashed against a tree at around 9.30 PM on Friday night. Among the 30 injured, eight of them are in serious condition, the officer said.
The seriously injured persons were shifted to Nabarangpur district head-quarters hospital while others were being treated at Umarkote hospital.
