Exchange for Change Program 2014′ launched in Kolkata

Attempting to bridge borders and scale boundaries between school children in India and Pakistan, World’s Largest Oral History Program Exchange for Change™ 2013-15 added a new bunch of schools from Kolkata to spread Peace. Routes2Roots & The exchange 300x151 Exchange for Change  Program 2014 launched in KolkataCitizens Archive of Pakistan welcomes PeaceWork – An Initiative of The Seagull Foundation for the Arts in Kolkata on growth expansion of Exchange for Change™ program 2013-15.

This initiative by Routes 2 Roots is primarily to create an understanding of lifestyle, cultures & traditions of students from India & Pakistan. Now 6200 Children from 37 schools and 7 cities of India and Pakistan are part of Exchange for Change™ 2014-2015 thereby making it world’s largest Exchange for Change™ program across the two countries. Apart from Kolkata, schools of Delhi, Mumbai, Dehradun (INDIA) and Lahore, Karachi and Rawalpindi/Islamabad from Pakistan is part of this project. Participating schools from Kolkata will be Modern High School, Lakshmipat Singhania Academy, La Martiniere for Boys, Abhinav Bharati, Saifee Hall and Chowringhee High School.

Mr. Rakesh Gupta, founder Routes2Roots said, “As the Exchange for Change™ family grows bigger Routes2Roots have now spread to Eastern part of India which will enable the students of Kolkata to exchange cultures with Pakistan students.”

About Students Exchange for Change™ 2013-2015: Attempting to bridge the divide and create friendship in the minds of our young children which shall soon be developed into a positive attitude at the decision level when these children grow up. “Exchange for Change™ 2013-2015” aims to create awareness of the cultures, similarities, and diversities, encouraging sustaining relationship among the children for a peaceful tomorrow. During the 14-month exchange for change program, activities planned are, Letter exchanges, Charts, Posters, Postcards, Visual and oral histories exchange with sharing histories as heard from their elders and finally culminating with the visit of select children and teachers from all the schools to both the countries. The age group of participating children is 10-14 years, and this year Dehradun has been added from India in this program in addition to Delhi, Mumbai, Karachi, Lahore and Rawalpindi.
