New Delhi: The Smile Foundation and three-time Michelin-starred celebrity chef, Mr. Vikas Khanna, came together in the capital to create a unique charity cookout called “Cook for a Smile”. Hosted by Hyatt Hotels, the event took place on July 27 at Hyatt Regency, New Delhi. 11 top boardroom leaders joined this initiative to battle it out over a cook off to ensure that Mrs. Ratna Chadha CEO Tirun Travel Marketing receiving award with Chef Vikas Khanna and child from Smile foundation 300x199 TIRUN CEO, Mrs Ratna Chadha, wins 1st Runner up award at The Smile Foundation’s event, ‘Cook for a Smile’the cause wins. TIRUN Travel Marketing Chief Executive, Mrs. Ratna Chadha, participated in the event and wound up as the 1st runner up. On behalf of TIRUN, she handed over a cheque  to the Smile Foundation to aid the education and nourishment of under-privileged children.

“Cook for a Smile” was a roaring success with Delhi’s top corporate leaders coming together to prove their mettle in the kitchen.  They whipped up a storm, quite literally, at Hyatt’s cooking stations under the guidance of the Master Chef  Judge Mr. Vikas Khanna. Top corporate honchos took to recreating some of their favourite recipes to support the Smile Foundation’s ‘Nutrition for Better Literacy’ initiative, of which Chef Khanna has been a Goodwill Ambassador. Each CEO was accompanied by a child from the Smile Foundation who acted as a sous-chef and helped the leaders stir up their culinary magic. The funds raised from the charity cookout will be used to fulfill the academic and nutritional requirements of 1,000 children for one year.

Mrs. Ratna Chadha, Chief Executive, TIRUN Travel Marketing, said, “It was a great and unique way to spend a Sunday. For all of us to get out of our business suits and wield the ladle was a thrilling affair. The ultimate goal of making a difference in the lives of  less fortunate children made the entire activity all the more rewarding. I personally look forward to more such engaging and fruitful ways of contributing to society.”

Elaborating on his fondness for the initiative, Chef Vikas Khanna, said, “Lack of proper nutrition is a fundamental issue in our country and one of the biggest roadblocks for the growth and development of children. I am proud to be associated with the Smile Foundation as their Goodwill Ambassador for ‘Nutrition for Better Literacy’. ‘Cook for a Smile’ has been a big step in helping us reach out to several stakeholders in a major way. By end of this year, I pledge to benefit around 5,000 kids under this initiative.”

The event was a collaborative effort between Hyatt Regency, the Smile Foundation and its partners Cleo County, Western Digital, Philips Kitchen Appliances & CNBC who share the same passion for providing the less fortunate with a healthier lifestyle.
