Mumbai : Belgium was awarded the ‘Best Emerging International Destination’ at the third Annual Lonely Planet Magazine Travel Awards 2014.The awards recognise the 
best travel experiences, destinations and, high quality accommodations across different hotel categories, both internationally and in India..
The ceremony was held in Mumbai on June 11, 2014 and the winners were selected through an online readers’ poll conducted by the magazine as well as a jury of travel experts.
Mr. Sunil Puri, Managing Director, Visit Flanders – Representative Office of Tourism Flanders &Brussels (Belgium) in India, received the award. Commenting on the accolade received by the destination, he stated, “It gives us immense pleasure to receive this award from the readers of Lonely Planet Magazine. This award is a testimony of the fact that Indians now prefer experiential holidays and are willing to venture out to newer destinations. We look forward to welcoming more and more Indian travellers to Flanders & Brussels (Belgium) in future.
