Mumbai :   The third SIF Connects! Mumbai held today brought together the Singapore International Foundation’s (SIF) Friends of Singapore (FOS) community to celebrate the friendships forged between the Singapore and India communities and to witness the close of SIF’s Young Social Entrepreneurs’ (YSEs) study visit programme in Mumbai.

The SIF has connected Singaporeans and Indians together in partnership for good for nearly two decades. Through our capacity-building projects in India, SIF’s Singapore International Volunteers (SIVs) together with our Indian counterparts have shared skills and expertise to uplift lives in areas such as healthcare and education.

Also in the business of doing good, the SIF’s week-long YSE study visit programme in Mumbai saw 10 multinational YSE teams undergo mentorship programmes. Led by prominent Indian social entrepreneurs, corporate leaders and academics, it is aimed at enabling and equipping our youth to become effective change makers.

Another highlight of SIF Connects! Mumbai was the mini showcase featuring the robust journey of these young change makers as well as the diverse range of SIF’s capacity-building projects between SIF’s SIVs and Indian nationals in Karnataka and Tamil Nadu.

“Today we celebrate the power of friendships – between that of Singaporeans and Indians, rooted in personal connections and the shared belief in working together for a better world. Our two countries have enjoyed excellent relations over the years and moving forward, we hope to further seal a deeper understanding of Singapore and the region, in the hearts and minds of our people.” says Mr Ajit Singh, Consul General of the Republic of Singapore in Mumbai.

“Partnership is a hallmark of SIF and we have enjoyed longstanding support from our Indian partners and friends such as Ashoka, Azim Premji Foundation, the Buds of Christ Foundation, Young Indians and Confederation of Indian Industry. We now include Dasra, Tata Institute of Social Sciences and Intellecap, among others, as our collaborators in India for a better world powered by international friendships and nurtured within the FOS network.” added Ms Jean Tan, Executive Director of SIF.
