In Uttar Pradesh, the state government has ordered a magisterial inquiry into the Meerut group clashes which left over twenty people injured on Saturday. The District Magistrate of Meerut will conduct the inquiry. The city is limping back to normalcy. Authorities have beefed up security. No arrests have been made so far, however cases have been registered against 200 persons. SSP Meerut claimed that the trouble makers have been identified and they will be arrested soon. DM Navdeep Rinwa said that the situation in Meerut is totally under control. The schools and colleges upto 12th class have been closed down for today as a precautionary measure.
The clashes broke out following a dispute over the construction of a water kiosk near a mosque in the Teergaran area of the old city on Saturday.
