Marathi film SATURDAY SUNDAY explores the murky underworld Filmmakers have always been fascinating with the Underworld. In fact earlier many films which were based on Underworld or on the lives of criminals have done a enormous business on box office. The kind of relations the criminals share with each other, their clashes with each other, the outlook of 
the police, the politics within the various gangs, their modus operandi have been shown very effectively in various films. Though many filmshave been made on the subject in Hollywood and Bollywood, in Marathi film industry hardly any films have been made on this subject. On this Backdrop Actor cum director Makarand Deshpande is going to make a Marathi action film titled as Saturday Sunday based on the Underworld. The film is produced by Production company Ashwini-Rahul productions. The announcement of the film was recently made in a grand function in Mumbai. The artists from the film presented a dramatic version of a thrilling scene from the film. Along with producer Ashwini Shirsat and Actor Makarand Deshpande many prominent film personalities from both Marathi and Hindi film industry were present at the function.
Eminent filmmakers from Bollywood such as Omkara, Saat Khoon Maaf and Kaminey fame director Vishal Bhardwaj, Amol Gupte (director of Taare Zameen Par), Abhishek Kapoor (director of Kai Po Che and Rock On), Nishikant Kamat (director of Dombivili Fast and Force), Umesh Shukla (director of Oh My God!) Were present at the function. Actor Vinit Sharma,actress Sai Tamhankar,singer cum music composer Milind Ingale and other artists and technicians from the film were also present.
Notorious sharpshooters from the Underworld who are no longer of any use to the criminal gangs are on the ‘death lists’ of police. They get a message from Personal Assistant of the Home Minister that if they want to see the sunrise of Monday, they should keep aside their hatred for each other and come together on Saturday Sunday. What kind of commotion takes place when notorious sharpshooters from various gangs come together you have to watch it on the big screen. The story of the film is written by director Makarand Deshpande himself.
The music is composed by Swapnil Nachane and Anil Varma will handle the cinematography department. Art direction of the film will be done by Rajendra Patil and Biren is going to do the editing. Since the film is based on Underworld ,it will have breathtaking action sequences which will send shivers down your spine. The action sequences will be directed by Deepak and Vikram Dahia and Santosh Mhaske is the executive director of the film.
The star cast of the film includes popular actors such as Makarand Deshpande, Murali Sharma, Neha Joshi, Amruta Sant, Asim Hattangadi, Nupur, Sandesh et al. The shooting of Saturday Sunday will start very soon.
