Bangalore: The Institution of Engineering and Technology today announced the call for entries for the second edition of its prestigious India Scholarship Award, an annual grant with a combined prize of Rs. 8 lakhs. The award is designed to reward and celebrate individual excellence and innovation among undergraduate engineering students, including women engineers.
The 2013 edition of the India Scholarship Award received tremendous response from the engineering community with over 5,000 entries from students across India. . The winners were evaluated across various parameters including academic performance, extracurricular activities, range of outreach activities and their ability to come up with engineering solutions to solve problems impacting society.
The entries are open for 2nd and 3rd year B.Tech students from AICTE/UGC-approved institutions across two categories – General and Women. Lateral entry students who join B.Tech programme in 2nd year are also eligible to apply. Entries for this year will close on April 25, 2014. After rigorous evaluations, the national winners were crowned in August 2013. This year, we are once again on the lookout for future engineering leaders of India. He also added that this award also focuses on encouraging women student engineers to pursue careers in engineering.

The IET India had set up the IET India Advisory Committee in June 2012, to build a strong framework for IET India Scholarship Awards. For the 2014 award cycle, both second and third year full time regular UG Engineering programme student from an AICTE/UGC approved institution can apply. In 2015 and beyond, second, third and fourth year B.Tech students, will be eligible.
