30 marine police stations to be set up in Tamil Nadu

In Tamil Nadu, 30 marine police stations will be set up soon. Disclosing this at a function at Tirunelveli, Coastal Security Group Additional Director General of Police Sylendra Babu said that 24 fast interceptor boats and 14 small boats will be procured for the coastal security group. This will enhance the security of the coastal area of Tamil Nadu, he added. At present there are 12 marine police stations in the seven coastal districts of the state. Marine police patrols up to 12 nautical miles from the coast and beyond that Indian Coast guard and Navy take control.
